高级白
White Haute
One of my favorite ways to keep things from looking too matchy-matchy is to mix unique items with different attributes—such as texture, shape, scale, or style—together through a cohesive color scheme. How fabulous would Century’s Tangiers Lounge Chair look paired with Alden Parkes’ Williams Sideboard in a coastal living room? Or Bernhardt’s Athena Cocktail Table with Jamie Young’s Delphi Wall Sconce in a modern midwestern desert home? Not to be outdone by casegoods, Elisabeth York’s Tinsley is a plush bedding collection that’s a true style chameleon, making it the perfect addition to any bedroom. The look is truly white-haute!
A Color Story
We are seeing bravery across the country with this new trend of color popping up in homes. Designers are now introducing color more than ever into their projects. Not only on walls, but in furniture, accessories, rugs and bedding. We are loving the bold color combination of the Egret wallpaper by York Wallcoverings. The beautiful Carol & Frank Colley bedding collection can be used in a more understated color story. Also seen in new introductions from Chelsea House, Jeffan, and Selamat Designs, this trend allows personality to shine and helps a person define their style in their home. Whether it’s high contrast or soft pastels, it’s all about color this season.
Fluid Minimalism
Illustrating a perfect combination of design elements, the pieces I selected to express this trend are applicable to residential, commercial, and hospitality environments. As exemplified in new introductions from Corbett Lighting, Miniforms, Screen Gems Teton Home, Robert James Collection, and Pianca USA, the shapes are strong, timeless, sculptural forms that fit into any space as if they were already a favorite fixture or furnishing. I foresee all of these designs becoming collectible heirloom pieces that people want to own now, and pass on to future generations.
Globally Gathered
Designers and homeowners have become storytellers, exploring their visual narratives through globally gathered and reinvented pieces. We see this aesthetic in Jaipur’s Moroccan-inspired Gallant Woodstock rug, with its bolder scale and color palette, or Mirror Image Home’s gilded Iron Mirror, which elicits images of classic Moroccan archways in its decidedly fresh form.
Inspired by an antique find, Highland House’s Atchison Slipper Chair has refined proportions and updated finishing details to make it timelessly fresh and future-proof, while Selamat’s Sydney Mod Credenza gives 70’s Brutalism a more feminine, fashion-forward edge. Finally, JKM Home’s Gibbs Side Table could easily be a piece one picked up from the Flea Markets on a visit to Paris.
Domestic Daydream
Inspired by the 1950’s, Domestic Daydream celebrates and revives our past. Today’s technology, social media, and overall chaos create a constant unsettledness, a need for wanting more, and a yearning for simpler times. To counterbalance this reaction, we look to fill our homes with items that offer the comfort of routine and joyful opportunities to unwind.
Design focuses on items that could pass for heirloom relics with mid-century shapes and all-American appeal. We find comfort in feeling transported to a time that reminds us of our mother’s home or grandparent’s summer destination—but with a modern twist. These memories of people, places, and not-so-distant times evoke feelings that provide an alternative that has what the modern world lacks.
Brute
Drawing from industrial designer Dieter Ram’s philosophy, “less but better,” Brute stems from the idea that design should be essentially minimal. Brute is inspired by the resurgence of the Brutalism movement in mid-century architecture—an unapologetic form of expression and appreciation for the bare. Determined to make a statement, this aesthetic evokes a dystopian society.
Traditionally, Brutalism was brought about from a rebuttal of the frivolity of 1930s and 1940s designs, an attempt to be bold and break traditions. The renewal of this design movement comes from the idealistic society we currently live in. The rise of idealist technology culture has forced design to evolve by adding smart homes, LED, and touch-activation into our spaces.
Magic From The Past

Today’s interiors are about storytelling, and no element adds more to the story than a beautifully crafted antique. There is magic in the dynamic visual tension created by a blend of ancient and modern. As Alexa Hampton shared with me, “If the architectural backdrop is contemporary, pieces with age and patina will serve as the perfect foil to the stark modernity of their surroundings.”
It is this counterbalance that makes the use of antiques so powerful in the hands of a skilled designer. It creates that timeless quality our clients want in their interiors. In her own apartment, Hampton expresses the sumptuous elegance of another era by combining a pair of French Empire style mahogany chairs with a 19th Century Austrian Neoclassic ebonized commode.
